At Genomics England, he delivered a cloud strategy to futureproof and support the migrations of applications from legacy infrastructure, implemented real-time IT financials by implementing data analytics and developed highly efficient storage and HPC for the 5M Genome project. He delivered an AWS research facility within three months to support 500 external researchers working on Covid-19. David also successfully implemented an agile dev-ops team, improving productivity 5-fold within a year. David has led and played an instrumental role in numerous large mergers, including Chase, JP Morgan, and XL/Catlin. He attributes his success working on these highly-pressured projects to maintaining a clear focus, quick decision making and remaining agnostic to the many technical choices that need to be made. David combines his significant background with on-premises data centers, storage, and server environment with strong attention to client experience, culture, training, and leadership, which has enabled him to implement change successfully. David’s philosophy is to “keep things simple, get to a single technology and evolve from there.” In his spare time, David enjoys keeping fit, mountain biking, road and running, and swimming and is a member of the GB Triathlon team competing regularly at the world championships. He also enjoys playing the guitar and has a keen interest in the evolution of the Blockchain ecosystem. |
