Background

Six Degrees Group (6DG) is a rapidly expanding, award winning converged technology infrastructure provider. Delivering cloud, colocation, data and unified communications solutions to the UK mid-market, 6DG offers customers multiple services through one single provider.

Since its inception in 2011, Six Degrees Group has developed a reputation for acquiring a series of specialist technology companies from across the UK, adding depth and technical capabilities to its growing portfolio of solutions.

Six months after funds managed by Charlesbank Capital Partners acquired 6DG with the goal of building the UK’s largest mid-market managed services provider, Six Degrees Group announced a £12m “Invest for Growth” programme, a purely organic play designed to complement their ongoing ambitious acquisition agenda.

The Challenge

6DG committed to recruit approximately 50 people as part of the "Invest for Growth" programme, building and developing its sales, marketing and customer service teams, amongst others, to service its growing customer and partner base.

In addition, 6DG needed to increase its project team working on post-merger transformation projects across multiple inherited databases and CRMs, requiring systems consolidation and delivering business process improvement in a complex and fast paced environment.

The Solution

We used a mixture of recruitment methods including online and search-based methods to attract and match individuals with the right skills and cultural fit, recruiting technical and service positions critical to the success of the “Invest for Growth” programme and Business Transformation workstreams, introducing Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Project Managers, both on a permanent and contract basis.
