Background:
Surrey Heartlands is known as an ‘Integrated Care System’ – partnerships where health organisations, the local authorities and others take a collective responsibility for improving the health of the local population, managing resources (including money) and making sure services are high quality.
The newly created role of CIO is a demanding one, requiring the holder to work with multiple stakeholders in a demanding post COVID-19 environment. It was therefore imperative the interview selection process was rigorous and transparent to all key stakeholders involved in the final candidate selection.
The Brief:
Support the Chief Digital Officer by defining the key competencies and behaviours required by the post holder and building a robust final interview selection process that was fit for purpose.
Solution:
Inspire People worked with the Chief Digital Officer for Surrey Heartlands to identify key management competencies essential to succeed. A comprehensive Interview Guide was written with instructions for observers, including objectives of the interview, key phases of the interview and suggestions for exploration of each competency, together with an Evaluation Scoring Sheet round key behaviours with suggested questions and an accompanying guide for marking candidates’ responses.
Finally, a presentation topic was agreed that would explore candidates’ commercial and practical approach to moving from a fixed to a flexible IT model to support rapid digital deployment.
Feedback:
"So useful and made my life so much easier. Thank you."
Katherine Church, Chief Digital Officer at Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership
